Behind the scenes
In 2017, Film City Turku is delighted to host the double exhibition Behind the Scenes, which explores the history of Finland’s film industry from the perspective of the filmmakers themselves. Behind the Scenes: Tom of Finland Movie exhibition provides an insight into the film directed by Dome Karukoski due to premiere in February 2017, through stills, videos and props. Behind the Scenes: Star Makers turns its attention away from the digital age, to the heyday of Finnish cinema, taking a closer look at filmmaking in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s.
Behind the Scenes: Tom of Finland Movie exhibition allows visitors to take a glimpse behind the scenes of a film shoot and opens the door to the fascinating world of filmmaking. Dome Karukoski’s international biopic tells the inspiring story of Touko Laaksonen, aka Tom of Finland (1920‒1991), whose art changed the world. The exhibition features film props, costumes and set designs as well as making-of still photographs and video interviews of the cast and crew.
The exhibition is suitable for all ages.
